The Chiang Mai Authentic Sky Lantern Festival is the second-largest Yi Peng celebration in Chiang Mai — yet it offers a more peaceful, immersive, and meaningful experience compared to larger commercial events like CAD.
It brings together a mass sky-lantern release, Northern Thai cultural performances, traditional food, and hands-on cultural activities
The 2026 event is scheduled for November 24 and 25 at Dutch Farm, Chiang Mai.
We are an authorized ticket agent. Book your official e-tickets now and get ready for one of the most magical cultural experiences in Thailand.
What to Expect at the Festival
1. A Magical Mass Lantern Release
Join the main Yi Peng ceremony and release your sky lantern alongside thousands of other participants. Watch the glowing lanterns rise together into the night sky in one of Chiang Mai's most memorable festival moments.

2. A Taste of Northern Thai Cuisine
Take a break from the festivities with a Lanna-style buffet dinner featuring Northern Thai dishes. Thai snacks and herbal drinks are also available during the festival activities.

3. Lanna Cultural Performances
Discover Northern Thai traditions through live cultural performances and the traditional lantern-lighting ritual. The program offers a glimpse of Lanna culture before the evening's main event.

4. Explore the Handicraft Village
Arrive early to explore the traditional Thai Handicraft Village, discover local crafts, and take part in cultural activities. It's a chance to enjoy the festival atmosphere and take photos before the lantern release begins.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Which date should I choose, 24 or 25 November?
Both nights run the identical program and activities, so the choice is about your itinerary, not the experience. Based on past editions, the second night often runs a little more smoothly after the first night's full program has been through its first run — a small plus if your dates are flexible. Each ticket is valid for one night only.
2. What happens if it rains?
November is one of Chiang Mai's driest months. The event runs in light rain — lanterns are launched only when wind and weather conditions are safe, and staff will guide timing on the night.
3. How does the e-ticket work?
After payment, your e-ticket link is emailed within 12 hours — it carries a unique QR code, booking reference, event date and ticket tier. Show the QR on your phone at the meeting point and again at the gate. Each ticket is valid only for the date you booked and admits once; keep your phone charged so the code scans.
4. Is it eco-friendly?
The event uses natural and biodegradable materials for lanterns and krathong, and runs a structured waste-management program across the venue. It's designed with BCG / SDGs principles in mind.
5. What should I wear?
Comfortable, breathable and modest clothing with sturdy shoes for walking on open farm ground. Bring a light jacket or shawl — November evenings cool down once the sun drops. Traditional Thai or Lanna outfits photograph beautifully under the lanterns, and light-colored clothing tends to glow in the lantern light.
